Spencer Ambauen, PE

Spencer Ambauen recently joined Sage Geotechnical as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and will be located in Seattle. He and Daniel Simpson are longtime friends from their graduate school days at Oregon State University.

 

Spencer is a licensed Professional Engineer in Washington and joins Sage with 11 years of experience. He has provided geotechnical support on complex public and private infrastructure projects throughout Washington and Oregon and has amassed valuable experience in project management, advanced geotechnical analysis/design, geologic/environmental hazard assessment, and geotechnical construction special inspections.

 

Spencer has managed projects and performed design and analysis for various geotechnical elements of structures including:

• shallow and deep foundations

• ground improvement

• landslide repair/slope stabilization systems

• retaining walls

• temporary shoring

• environmental remediation projects

 

Spencer’s deft problem-solving skills enable him to work with clients and contractors to overcome issues, deliver quality engineering deliverables, and complete projects on schedule.

In his free time, Spencer is usually out in the wilderness somewhere. He especially loves mountaineering and trail running, but also enjoys paddle boarding and cycling.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University and his Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering from Oregon State University.
