Daniel Simpson, PE
Daniel Simpson is an accomplished geotechnical engineer who develops practical solutions to difficult geotechnical problems.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer (civil) in Washington, Oregon, and California, and a licensed Geotechnical Engineer in Oregon and California. His experience ranges from designing routine pipe supports on spread footings to complex seismic deformation analysis of earth dams.
Daniel holds a BS in civil engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and an MS in geotechnical engineering from Oregon State University. He is a founding member of Sage Geotechnical with his long-time colleague and friend, Calvin McCaughan.
Daniel’s core areas of practice include:
Geotechnical investigations and advanced laboratory soil testing programs
Deep foundation design for axial and lateral loads
Retaining wall analysis and design, including anchored walls and mechanically-stabilized earth
Landslide investigations, monitoring, and remedy design
Deep excavation methods and earth support
When Daniel isn’t working at Sage Geotechnical, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, gardening, and woodworking.
